Who I am today
I am a mother, Pastor’s wife, and worship leader. I have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law, TJ and Alli. My son and I share our deep love for music; my daughter-in-law and I share a deep love for fashion and shopping! My husband, Tim, is the Senior Pastor of Central Assembly in El Sobrante, CA. We were married in 1984 and have been pastors at Central since 1999. I serve as the Worship Leader where I mentor area musicians who want to use their talents for Jesus.
My introduction to music
In 1972 I began taking piano lessons after my mother ran into a friend from high school at a bowling alley. My mother “bartered” my lessons by offering to have my Dad repair her appliances in exchange for my lessons. I took lessons for seven years. My teacher kept good records; my Dad was still repaying the debt long after I was married.
My introduction to Jesus
My piano teacher was also the church pianist at a large church in my hometown of Corpus Christi, TX. She invited me to attend so I could watch her play for the congregation. My parents decided to join me. They gave their hearts to Christ that morning and my life was forever changed.
My journey in ministry
My husband and I became Youth Pastors at the very church my parents were saved in after we were married. We ended up serving in three churches in South Texas before we made our voyage to the West Coast. We had a wonderful time loving the kids and community of Portland, OR before making our way to California where we now reside.
Along the way I have had the opportunity to lead worship at camps, conferences, and outreaches. Several of my worship songs have been used in various churches across the country.
In 2005 I became the keyboard player for L~Rey, a Latin-soul band serving Jesus in the barrio. Under the direction of Martin Cantu (former lead singer for Malo) I learned how to promote and market my ministry.
The birth of This Train
In 2008 I began recording my first “solo” project. The songs on this album were a collection of melodies merged with lyrical interpretations of how I see the world. This Train is dedicated to the memory of my best friend, my mother. I wrote the title track during her three-year struggle with congestive heart failure. Please check out the whole background story for This Train on the Inner Circle page.
